Equinox Gold is currently inviting applications for a Procurement and Contracts Superintendent to join our growing team as the company ramps up mine operations and production.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a plan to determine the strategic value of the procurement function as well as develop and implement the contract management and change management processes.
This position works Monday – Friday from the Grand Falls-Windsor office with ad-hoc travel to the mining operations.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Procurement:
Supervise and coordinate activities of buyers and support staff engaged in purchasing and distributing of equipment, materials, products, or services in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
Collaborate with management in the preparation, negotiation, and administration of contracts for purchase of equipment, materials, products, or services in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
Establish standards procedures to accomplish procurement of a variety of equipment, materials, products, or services in a cost-effective manner while ensuring the alignment with Industrial and Employment Benefits Agreements.
Prepare and assign purchase orders and change notices to purchasing agents.
Formulate and coordinate procurement proposals and be instrumental in all site purchasing, warehouse services, stock take, and reconciliations. Identify and assess commercial and contractual risks and implement controls for mitigation of identified risks.
Create and maintain procurement KPI’s in alignment with corporate goal
Contract/Change Management:
Developing and recommending contract strategies and contract plans, ensuring contract strategies consider appropriate legal, commercial, and technical approach to scope packaging, bidding, awarding, managing, and closing contracts.
Ensure and manage the request for proposal (RFP) process including:Planning, preparing, and managing the RFP documents;
Analyzing and evaluating commercial proposals;
Managing the technical evaluation process;
Negotiating commercial and legal terms;
Recommending award based on overall best value;
Conforming, executing, and awarding resulting contracts; and
Ensuring all records are managed and retained.
Ensure that contracts are awarded and managed in accordance with the company’s practices and be instrumental in local contracting and operational contract management.
Oversee the amendment, extension, termination, and renegotiation of contracts.
Evaluate or monitor contract performance to determine necessity for amendments or extensions of contracts and to ensure compliance to contractual obligations.
Develop, implement, and update sourcing plans and contract management procedures.
Write, negotiate, evaluate, and execute contracts.
Dispute resolution
Create value added relationships and communicate with suppliers for smooth execution of contracts and orders.
Health and Safety:
Lead and promote a culture and environment of positive health and safety practices.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
Minimum of 15 years of experience in the procurement of materials and services in an industrial and construction setting (Mining preferred).
Completion of an Undergraduate Degree in Business with a concentration in Procurement and Contracts Management, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) preferred or other related designation.
An equivalent level of education and 10 years industry experience.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in supervisory and managerial roles.
Previous experience with various contract types, models, and strategies.
Experience in Procurement and Contracts Management in a major industrial setting.
Experience working within Industrial and Employment Benefits Agreements as it relates to Procurement and Contracts.
